What's new for 2016?

First, a brief introduction. I come to this High School after 17 years at Peninsula High School where I was Mr. Technology. Prior to that I built and designed custom homes for 23 years. I also spent 10 years as a teacher of English in South Kitsap schools and an additional 12 years as a school board member there. I am excited to be here.  I teach my favorite classes while working with exceptional staff.  And the students I have met are outstanding as well. This has the makings to be a truly amazing year.
In English  we use Springboard Curriculum on line.  We create websites where students blog weekly. To read an assignment on a student site is akin to beach combing; you find all sorts of gems since students utilize digital tools like text, font, color, graphics, links to video, etc. This gives writing added  dimension.
 Architecture & Interior Design
We will be learning fundamentals about structure and shelter while developing basic  3d modeling skills. We have access to a 3D printer which enables us to create and print actual student projects. The results are often spectacular.
Photography will be a great class to teach again. Images are integral to media and understanding how to capture and process digital images is a valuable skill opening up career opportunities. I instructed photography at a previous high school  and was advisor to their yearbook for 14 years so I bring a broad spectrum of experience. I also do architectural photography in my spare time.
In Media  we focus on both animation with Flash CS6 and Video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. Our concentration is on the field of motion graphics which focuses on using computer technology to create and edit movement on screen.
In Yearbook we are building a 50 page all color book we will be selling for $30. We are excited to be creating a student produced book that should be available the first week of June. Click the buttons at the top of the page for more information.
My INTJ Word Cloud
          So what does a Myers-Briggs Personality Test mean when applied to me?

 I test out consistently to be INTJ which translates: I am introverted.

That doesn't mean I'm totally shy.... it does mean I need private time to draw energy from my thoughts.
 I tend to focus, to sweat the details, and I am an idea person....I translate concepts to give them clarity and a foundation;
I transform them to  concrete, I root them in the practical. Although perfectionism bites me I am able to see beyond what is ideal, to what is necessary to get the job done... to bring a project to closure.

These are skills I developed as a design-build contractor and which come to focus each day in the classroom.
